Branding a conference:
AI for the rest of us
AI for the rest of us is a London-based conference and growing community founded by Hannah Foxwell. It helps people explore artificial intelligence in a fun, welcoming, and non-intimidating way.
My role: Hannah brought me on in 2024 to lead the branding and design. The mission: design everything that needed design: from the website and social media presence to the sponsorship brochure, lanyards, stickers, roll-ups, digital intro-videos, and the event schedule.

Setting the mood: brand look & feel
The briefing: We started from scratch: no visual identity, no brand presence. The challenge was to make the conference feel credible enough for sponsors, while standing out from typical corporate AI branding for visitors. It needed to be vibrant, joyful, and instantly inviting to people to join the AI conversation.
How we worked: We kept things lean: quick feedback loops via WhatsApp, virtual check-ins on Google Meet, and collaborative design in Figma. I used DALL·E and Midjourney to create a custom conference mascot (hi, Randolf!), and built the website in WordPress using Semplice. All design files and tools were shared with Hannah, and after a bit of hands-on practice, she was able to take over maintenance herself, keeping things sustainable and within budget.

Impact: The conference grew a strong LinkedIn presence (1,500 followers!), attracted sponsors, and established itself as a standout name in the AI space. What started as a one-off conference quickly grew into a recurring community event. Hannah has since become an established consultant in the AI space. The success of the brand played a key role in opening the door for her to step into that work full time.
